Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Sales Engineer, you are responsible for the technical solution and cost calculation of complex machine and process installations for cocoa and compound processing. Previous experience in the cocoa industry is not required, as you will develop that expertise with us. Together with the Area Sales Manager, you form the customer team: you design the technical solution, while the Area Sales Manager is responsible for the commercial agreements. You report to the Team Lead Sales Engineering and become part of a close-knit team of three engineers and a team lead, which is currently expanding due to growth.

Location: Koog aan de Zaan
Position within the organization: This role is part of the Sales Engineering department and reports directly to the Team Lead Sales Engineering. You will work closely with colleagues from Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Service, and Finance.
Team size: You will be part of the Sales Engineering & Support team and collaborate daily with a group of dedicated technical professionals.
International connections: As part of our global organization, you will regularly collaborate with international colleagues, particularly with our team in Germany. Travel is limited and represents approximately 5% of your time.

- Analyze customer inquiries, specifications, and tender documents, translating them into practical and technically sound solutions.
- Design and configure complex machinery and process lines for cocoa and compound production, develop basic layouts and process flow diagrams (PFDs), and clearly substantiate your technical choices.
- Prepare complete quotations, including scope, costing, and technical documentation. Every proposal is reviewed by a colleague to ensure we deliver a high-quality offer right the first time.
- Partner with the Area Sales Manager during customer meetings, presentations, and technical discussions.
- Ensure a smooth handover to Project Management and Engineering once an order is secured, enabling the project team to move forward efficiently.
- Act as a technical point of contact for colleagues, share your expertise, and proactively contribute to improving processes, tools, and standard solutions.

Your Profile

- A bachelor's degree (HBO level) in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a comparable level of education and experience.
- Solid experience (typically 5+ years) in Sales Engineering, Application Engineering, or a similar technical-commercial role.
- Strong knowledge of machinery and process technology, with the ability to work effectively in a project-driven environment.
- A proactive and independent working style, with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills, enabling you to engage comfortably with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Dutch language skills at a minimum B1 level are required.
- German is considered an advantage.
- Proven experience with CAD software and the ability to work with it independently. We use AutoCAD, Vault, and EPLAN.
