Your Responsibilities:
You will lead the financial accounting team and be responsible for the proper recording of all business transactions in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB). You will manage the financial closing processes, further develop standards and procedures, and actively drive the digitization and automation of accounting processes within our custom manufacturing operations. As a technical and disciplinary leader, you will serve as the central point of contact for accounting-related issues within the Group.
Location: Emmerich am Rhein
Organizational Structure: The position is part of the Global Finance team and reports directly to the Head of Global Finance.
Team size: You will lead the financial accounting team of five employees and work closely with related functions in Controlling, Tax, and Consolidated Accounting.
International connections: Due to the global structure of our corporate group, there is regular coordination with international locations and subsidiaries.
Your Tasks:
- Providing technical and managerial oversight of financial accounting
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB), including the independent preparation of financial statements for domestic subsidiaries
- Accurately recording project-related business transactions for our custom manufacturing operations in the AMS ERP system
- Digitizing and automating accounting processes in AMS, as well as further developing internal standards, guidelines and controls
- Preparing advance sales tax returns and summary reports, as well as foreign VAT returns via EU fiscal representation, in coordination with the tax department
- Managing intercompany reconciliations and supporting group reporting
- Serving as the point of contact for auditors on accounting matters and collaborating with the tax department on tax-related issues
- Responsibility for the timely and accurate day-to-day financial accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, fixed asset accounting) as well as for provisions and accruals
Your Profile:
- A commercial apprenticeship with additional training as a certified accountant (IHK) or a degree in business administration with a focus on accounting
- Several years of professional experience in financial accounting, ideally in a manufacturing or project-oriented business environment
- Very good knowledge of accounting in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB)
- Initial leadership experience or a clear willingness to take on leadership responsibilities
- Demonstrable experience in the digitization of accounting processes; knowledge of AMS ERP is a plus but not a requirement
- Good German and English skills for working in an international environment
